Opinion on Climate Change

Sure, climate change is real but it is getting a tad overrated.

In recent years, so much has been said (Linear Progression of Global Change) about climate change and how it would probably lead to extinction of man kind, or at least significant decline. With such catastrophe being the threat, some people cannot be blamed that they panicked and they scream at those who are in constant state of denial. I concur with Margaret Wente (2010) that there is a third reaction to global warming which essentially can be summed up to cool acceptance. This group is where I belong.

Since much contradictory facts come out after another, and some claim to be more reliable than some other, one has to wonder whether this is just a ploy to create havoc and speculation in the current world population. The issue of impending disaster has certainly made money in the past (remember the supposedly great flooding that induced people to panic buy for life vests) and it certainly makes a lot of money now considering all the infrastructure being created to utilize renewable sources of energy.  I for one, am not against renewable sources of energy, but to actually create disaster stories to build up hype for it is more than a little on the extreme side especially since coal mining is still a huge empire not likely to be dissolved by disaster-laden gossip-mongering.

The good thing about this whole debacle is that mankind has proven again that it believes in its supremacy in this planet. Sure, it has taken them long to do the required action only to find out that there is no cause for so much alarm anyway. But given the demands on IPCC to improve its reporting (Black 2010), it only shows that man is concerned and will do everything still to protect its race.
